I have to admit, this coffee was surprisingly good. Better than other "bold" coffees, although not as good as the extra bold Italian Roast if you are a fan of the bold coffee. I'm happy to drink this in a pinch.

It surprises me that I would choose a Maxwell house as my favorite but so far it is just one of the best regular coffee's available. Add to that, it is available in most retailers. I use my tassimo about three times a day and 2/3 of all the coffees put through will be this one!

I have purchased this product twice in the 29.3 oz size. Both times, I have been disappointed. As a French Roast aficionado, I know what French Roast coffee should look and smell like. True French Roast coffee bean and grounds should be almost black in color with a pungent, almost burnt, aroma. These characteristics are imparted from the "over roasting" process which brings out the unique flavor and aroma of the French Roast coffee beans. Furthermore, during the roasting process, the French Roast beans lose more moisture than normally roasted coffee beans. Therefore, the French Roast grounds have lower density and weighs less than normally roasted beans for an equivalent volume. The Maxwell House French roast has none of the traditional French Roast characteristics. The grounds color is much lighter than that of true French Roast, the aroma is not like true French Roast grounds, and the flavor is just like regular roast coffee. In addition, the grounds have the same density as regular Roast Coffee grounds. I am very disappointed with Maxwell House brand French Roast. Someone in the Coffee Division should learn how to properly roast the French Roast coffee.

This is the 2nd Maxwell House flavor I've tried and it too taste like cigarettes. Even after adding about a third cup of flavored creamers, that bitter acidic taste was still there. It doesn't motivate me to drink coffee. Jacobs & Kenco are terrible too, but at least I end up with a good taste after adding flavored creamers.

After having tried the Maxwell House House Blend and loving it I thought I would try this product. Nasty taste. I do usually like strong flavors but this one did not do it for me.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Maxwell House but I was pleasantly surprised. This is just as good if not better than any other French roast I’ve had from any other single serve machine. All that at a reasonable price.

After losing Starbucks flavors I was trying very hard to get a substitute for it. Tried the Gevalia coffees and Coffee crema was a good option. Then Tassimo brought the new Gevalia Bold flavors and I loved them! But I kept reading great reviews about this French roast coffee and decided to try it! Oh my! What a delicious flavor! Strong enough to wake me up in the morning!!!! Why was I disappointed for so long??? I should have read these reviews earlier and try this flavor long time ago! And the price is great as well!!! This one is definitely my favorite!

I too enjoy Gevalia’s Dark Morning Blend but it doesn’t quite have the finish of a French roast. The Gevalia may be a little more complex throughout but it fades at the end. The Maxwell House (surprisingly) has that smoky, roasted finish I look for in a French roast. I will be trying the other Gevalia extra bold flavors and I have high hopes for the Italian Roast.

I'm a dark roast drinker and quite aware of what a good french roast should taste like. The maxwell house is NOT a good french roast. Gevalia's morning dark roast is an infinitely better product.

Keep in mind that this is French Roast and not French Vanilla. A French Roast coffee comes from beans that have been roasted until very dark. This creates a very strong, hardy coffee. It may not be for everyone but Maxwell House did a very good job getting this one right.

I really enjoy this cup of coffee. I cannot stand any of the other Maxwell House discs but this might be my favorite disc of all the brands and is the one I drink the most. It has good flavor and is reasonably priced. The dark house blend by Gevalia is really good as well maybe a little stronger but more expensive.

As many reviewers, I am still hoping for a replacement for Starbucks Breakfast blend (of course negotiating with them again to bring back would be ideal)This is one I tried with several others. So far it is the only one I will order again. It is bold without being bitter, flavor is not Starbucks, but definitley a good French roast. It suffices so I backed off buying a competitors machine, but they need to come up with a better solution soon. I miss Starbucks who really had the best of the t-discs.
