This espresso is strong and flavorful, but a bit too bitter for my taste. I prefer Mastro Lorenzo over this one. However, my husband like this one better as he said ML is too strong. I also would like if it brew a hotter cup.

I ordered this by mistake. Opened the box and wondered why there was a package of espresso there. But I kept it because who doesn't like some extra espresso lying around? Anyway, this stuff is really really good. I had a pack of cappuccino and was having to use two of the espresso packs that came with it per cup because the flavor of that one was somewhat poor and weak. Of course, I ran out of the espresso before the milk so I substituted this one day. Just needed one shot and what a great flavor. Definitely looking forward to making an americano with it next. Highly recommend!

I picked this one when it was on sale it figuring I would give it a try. I regret not buying more than one package when I could get them for less. It is my absolute favorite. It is delicious!!! Highly recommend this one.

I've been using this instead of King of Joe espresso discs that came in the Cappuccino sets. Both drinks were on sale. This is a strong aromatic coffee that doesn't give me the odd aftertaste I get from King of Joe. Part of the problem is that the milk disks taste a bit plastic to me with an artificially sweet finish and the espresso needs to be stronger

The flavor and strength of the coffee gets easily muted when creamer is added. There was nothing outstanding about its aroma or taste. If you're waiting for other products to start producing again, i don't think this is a good substitute.

I enjoy strong espresso, but this one is just too bitter. The Mastro Lorenzo is equally strong but without bitterness.

Ok, this ristretto isn't perfect, but at least a good attempt nonetheless, and much better than the competing national brand machines that start with a K or S at making a short shot of espresso. All in all I must give it a 5 since it does actually produce a short shot of espresso that is bold and fairly well balanced. Moreover, coming out of a machine costing a mere couple hundred bucks at best, it is a great value when compared to the the thousands you would have to pay for a specialty machine or manual press, which then would require you to know how to use the darn thing.

This is what I consider a true espresso... Compared to some of the other types of espresso T-Disks that seem like just a couple oz of regular coffee, this one is powerful and very close to what I am served at the local caffe. Lovely crema, and great taste. Without a doubt, my favorite T-Disk so far...Save the other espresso disks for mixing in an extra kick within another drink...Drink this one straight..!

Compared to the classic expresso, this version just tastes "funny." The smell is great, but the ground makes the flavour extremely bitter. For a more well rounded profile, would recommend the classic

I'm a coffee / expresso snob and thought this would not be strong enough or good enough but it's actually a little too strong for me. It's of a high quality with a good froth. It states each disk makes 4.5 oz but I found it only makes about 2 oz. So I use two of them plus a tiny shot of water to make about a 4 oz cup.

I like this espresso it has a good aroma and strength, but it's quite bitter. I prefer the Mastro Lorenzo Intenso, it is a little stronger but not bitter.

Just bought the T20 with a year's worth of espresso and hot chocolate, with the intent of using a regular pot brew system for regular drip coffee and Tassimo for "specialty" beverages.
Firstly, the website reads that this TDisc makes 4.5 fl oz of espresso which is obviously ridiculous...the package says 50ml which is accurate (1 and 2/3 fl oz#. I picked the Carte Noire Ristretto because of good reviews and that it was indicated as a Ristretto, which was refreshing for me to see for a automatic brewer system. Normally I would expect to see a ristretto at .75 fl oz or max 1 oz, so the 50 ml on the package was a bit disappointing. BUT, to my pleasant surprise, the taste was very true to a ristretto, bold and flavorful with no hint of bitterness. So it is almost like getting twice the amount of the best the coffee grind has to offer. Using the highest height adjustment #brilliant idea# and a small espresso cup, one can achieve decent crema #not as thick and stubborn as I would like) and maintain heat. Unless you do that, the espresso gets lukewarm by the time it gets from nozzle to bottom of cup. So, all in all, Very impressed.

I've enjoyed pretty much every variety of espresso I've had from TASSIMO and this is my favorite so far. It is not bitter at all. Just full flavored, rich and evenly balanced. After I had one, I wanted another. Unlike others, there is almost no aftertaste. This can be good or bad depending on your point of view. Yummy nonetheless.

Got my Tassimo machine this week and it came with some free T-disc packages .
One of them was the Ristretto espresso from carte noire .
I live in the US but i am originally from France and know very well this brand and i have to say that when i tried this flavor it remind me of the coffee i used to drink in the cafes in Paris .
It is a true espresso , i have never tasted something like that before in the US , the flavor is as bold as it should be .

This espresso is much nuttier and sweeter than any of the others from the Tassimo machine or an Nespresso machine for that matter.
It is the least bitter of the 4 varieties offered for Tassimo, but still very strong. 5 Stars!

Early spring we visited southern France and happened to see in the local MonoPrix Supermarché two new Tassimo flavours: Carte Noire Voluptuoso Corse and Expresso Ristretto! We have travelled numerous times to Europe (and also lived), and Carte Noire Expresso Ristretto is the REAL THING! It is very bold, aromatically rich and full of flavor - so everytime I have a demitasse (which is now daily), I am always reminded of the lazy afternoons in French Riviera!
Do yourself a favour: regardless if you're a coffee connoisseur or not, this is the way an expresso should taste like! Thanks Tassimo USA for bringing this over the pond...you'll certainly gain more customers with the Corse and Ristretto!
